Doctrine of Pith and Substances: -
This doctrine is applicable when the law is made by a legislature violates or contravenes power or jurisdiction of another legislature as a result to ensure the power or jurisdiction of the legislature which has made the law or legislation, the courts apply this principle. The relevant case laws are as follows: - A.S. Krishna v. State of Madras , Prafulla Kumar v. Bank of Khulna in it the Privy Council has applied this principle. State of Bombay v. Balsara.
